Bill, Steve, Lynn and LonnieWell, it is time once again to report to our customers the annual Consumer Confidence Report. Every public water system in the State of California is required to report to all of their   customers the status of their water quality.

The Willow Creek Community Services District is proud to report to you, that we are in compliance with the Department of Public Health, Division of Drinking Water.

This is for treatment and distribution of your drinking water.

The District has and will always serve our customers with the highest quality of drinking water possible. To achieve this standard of high quality, we as Water Operators must always be vigilant and progressive on water treatment operation and maintenance.

This past year the American Water Works Association, California Nevada Section recognized our accomplishments. We were the 2009 recipient of the “Small Utilities Award”. This award recognizes the positive accomplishments as a smaller utility.

This upcoming year we are not stopping in the improvement of our District facilities.

The District plans to replace a 100,000 gallon water storage tank in the Hodgson Subdivision.

This water storage tank is decaying and must be replaced. The tank was built out of redwood in 1968.

The District staff works many man hours each year on repairs. We have encumbered expenses of thousands of dollars over the last decade.

This replacement will ensure that the highest of quality water is maintained throughout our community. The new storage tank will also help the Fire Protection District maintain its’ fire rating.

We must always be at the top of our game to provide our customers with a high quality infrastructure for years to come.

We as Water Operators are proud to serve you, our customers of the Willow Creek Community Services District.

Watershed Management on the Willow Creek PDF Print E-mail

The Willow Creek Community Services District drinking source water comes from the Willow Creek.

The watershed consists of thirty square miles of mountainous terrain along highway 299.

The Willow Creek watershed is primarily impacted by particulate sediment from seasonal rainfall, natural and man caused landslides.

Recently, during a storm on February 11th we experienced high turbidity levels in the Willow Creek and from one of its tributaries in particular.

The Willow Creek experienced high levels of clay and dirt particles that exceeded over 124 Nephelometer Turbidity Units (NTU). Normal NTU’s are less than 10 for this time of year in the watershed.

After investigating the watershed, our staff and other governmental agencies, determined that the high levels of fine particulate mater were from a man caused landslide one mile west of our Water Treatment Facility.

Our District staff was particularly concerned about damage to our watershed and the possibility of contamination to our drinking water.

Community members also voiced concerns about the safety of our drinking water.

The District would like to assure you that our drinking water is safe to consume.

The Water Treatment Facility did an excellent job of removing the high levels of particulate from your drinking water.

The filtration removal process exceeded all requirements that were necessary to make your drinking water as safe as possible.

The land owner’s involved in the restoration and repairs of the landslide are also concerned with the situation. They are doing everything possible to rectify the situation.

The repairs of the landslide will hopefully alleviate future damage to our watershed.

Watershed Management is an essential part of the operation of the Willow Creek Community Services District. We will, to the best of our ability, help the community maintain a strong, clean and safe watershed.
